PRESIDENT RUBEN "BEN" BLASCO, "Show Rotary Cares", RY 1997-1998

President Ben Blasco led the club through another banner year. Under his leadership, the Club received two awards from the District: (1) The Outstanding Club Participation in the Four Avenues of Service; and (2) The Most Distinguished Caring Rotary Service. With the Club in good financial health, it was able to participate in a number of District activities and, in fact, hosted two Monday Fellowships and a District-wide golf tournament. To soften the effects of the El Niņo phenomenon, the Club was able to donate 100 steel drums to the residents of Sto. Niņo in Pasay City. The soup kitchen project was continued and a number of medical-dental missions were organized in the areas of Smokey Mountain and Kalinga, Apayao. A Rotaract Club was organized in the Southeastern College in Pasay City. And, before the year ended, the Club hosted the visit of some of the officers and members of the Rotary Club of Wanchai in Hongkong.
